A New World of Inkjet Possibilities
By Chris Brown
When Canon launched the new ProStream continuous feed inkjet press, they wanted to publish a high-end media guide to go along with it — something that would capture the attention of graphic arts and commercial print professionals. Inkjet printing is popular in transactional and book production, but the ProStream goes far above and beyond what people thought inkjet could do. Since the press is capable of creating flawless skin tones, deep shades, and rich pops of color with near-photo image quality, the team at Canon wanted to show people what it could do.
The ProStream Media Guide visually demonstrates the possibilities in this new world of digital printing. Vibrant, high-energy, and lavish imagery highlights the ProStream's capabilities. The images were chosen to resonate with both designers for commercial print and brand owners in the verticals they serve: lifestyle, fashion, food, travel, and design.
Surprising photography (like sushi donuts!) is pared with clean layouts and fonts. The messaging centers around the adjectives that one would use to describe the products or experiences shown in the imagery — words like captivating and modern, the same adjectives a Canon customer might use to describe their print work on the ProStream. Ultimately, this unique print piece demonstrates the ProStream’s application possibilities: striking travel brochures, stunning fashion catalogs, and dynamic direct mail.
Have you designed a full-color piece for digital inkjet print? We want to hear about it. Tell us about it and we’ll feature it on Dots & Pixels.
