Project Brief

Canon wanted to do a little something different with their 2022 holiday card. Rather than simply sending one standard holiday mailer from every member of their executive and sales teams, Canon wanted to take a more custom, personalized approach that incorporated unique finishings and form factors to help demonstrate the outstanding print quality and versatility of their digital inkjet presses. After all, what’s the holiday season without a sprinkle of fun and touch of mirth?

We created five different cards using different themes and finishings to help Canon bring a little extra cheer to their holiday mailers.

Solution

The exterior of the holiday card from Canon’s executive team featured an illustration of a holiday village in the style of Charles Schulz’s classic holiday movie, A Charlie Brown Christmas. The interior of the card included a portrait of the Canon executive team, along with a personalized holiday message to showcase the crisp image quality and variable data capability of Canon’s inkjet fleet.

For Canon’s sales team, we created four distinct holiday mailers, each with a unique form factor and complementary messaging to transform each card into a true showpiece. Each personalized holiday card was printed full-color with high saturation, and each utilized a unique finishing to give the card an extra dash of merriment. The themes and finishings used for the sales team holiday cards included:

  • A holiday candy tin featuring soft touch and gold foil finishing
  • A flannel pattern with soft touch and gold foil finishing
  • A snowglobe die-cut with spot UV on the globe
  • A trifold winter landscape die-cut with spot UV

Printed using the Canon varioPRINT iX sheetfed inkjet press, this series of holiday mailers emphasized just how big a part print can play in making the holiday season a little bit brighter.
